As one of Australia’s most visible charities providing care to more than 1 million struggling Australians each year, the Salvos rely on the generous support of the community to keep our programs running.
There are many great reasons to get your Corps involved in online community fundraising. Unlocking this opportunity will have a major impact on the total amount raised and attributed to your Corps’ fundraising goal.

So what’s the best way to be a Hero for Hope? Below are four easy steps to help get you started:
1. Get approval
Make sure you check with your local Corps Officer that your fundraising activities fit The Salvation Army’s Fundraising Guidelines.
Stuck for some ideas? Here are a few simple ideas to get you started:
Community BBQ/ Cake Sale: Hold a BBQ, cake sale or both at your church and charge a fee for each item.
Concert: Have some budding musicians in your congregation? Host a concert and get everyone attending to pay a cover charge.
Trivia Night: It’s time to see who’s the brightest of the bunch. Organise a trivia night and approach local businesses to support your event by donating prizes
2. Set up your online fundraising page
Register on Heroes for Hope to create your own fundraising page for your event. Here you can tell others why you are fundraising, add photos and set up a target for how much you want to raise.

3. Plan and prepare
Once a date, activity and fundraising page have been set up, it’s time to start planning. You might want to pick a theme for the day, food options or decide on decorations to promote your event. We have some posters that you can download for free. The most important thing is to have fun and get creative!
4. Spread the word
Ask family, friends, colleagues and local businesses to support your event! Share your fundraising page by email and social media and ask people to sponsor you. Don’t forget that a simple THANK YOU goes a long way.
